"You are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging."
- Brene Brown
Inspired by Dr. Brené Brown in my own journey, my heart's desire is to take a holistic approach in helping adult individuals connect with who they are so they can step into their unique power and overcome patterns that hinder them from experiencing connection & love, well-being, freedom, fulfillment, and heart-centred living.
An area that is dear to my heart is working with adults struggling with mild to moderate anxiety that gets in the way of their unique being.
When I am not helping others heal, I enjoy hanging with friends, crocheting (newly learned skill from covid-19 isolation), yoga, reading (fiction and non-fiction), hiking, swimming, making/playing with natural makeup, trying new restaurants, watching a good documentary or mystery movie, cooking, and some simple gardening.
A detailed list of my qualifications and training is provided below.
WHC has emerged from my vision for a holistic wellbeing centre that approaches each client’s journey towards wholeheartedness as unique. The dream is to expand into a centre where people can come Connect and ReBuild their lives, hearts, identity, and relationships through a variety of resources at their fingertips.
Whether you are yearning to discover and expand who you are or facing a shattered heart, WHC is a place where you can learn to Connect and get Centred.
"Staying vulnerable is a risk we have to take if we want to experience connection.”
- Brené Brown

Mentoring
vs.
Counselling
MENTORING SUMMARY
Purpose: Mentoring emphasizes both the professional and personal development of the individual; realize potential.
Role: Teacher/Collaborative/Advisory/thinking partner.
Relationship: Less formal, can meet in a variety of settings, with/out agenda, or just as friends. Built on respect, trust, support, and collaboration.
Duration: long-term.
Orientation: Present and future.
Focus: Holistic; identity/character formation.
Process: Mentor shares knowledge and expertise. Preventive care (before a crisis) or after care (preventing new crisis or solidifying progress).
In mentoring some of the works I utilize are the Inner Work, Brene Brown, Danielle LaPorte, the Enneagram Personality Types, mindfulness, experiential exercises, and a plethora of other resources, with the goal to find what speaks to you the most to promote self-awareness and the personal growth you desire.
COUNSELLING SUMMARY
Purpose: Counselling is the process that promotes self-understanding and self-acceptance; see more clearly - different view point.
Role: Listening/Guidance/Feedback
Relationship: Formal, make appointments, meet in office or private setting, discuss treatment goals. Built on trust, acceptance, confidentiality, and openness.
Duration: Short-term.
Orientation: Past and present.
Focus: Problem-focused; particular area of life struggles. Explore stressful or emotional difficulties.
Process: Counsellor uses training and skills to explore the underlying dynamics of individuals and their relationships.
In counselling, I adapt a few therapy orientations: Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), and other resources like the Inner Work, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, experiential exercises, and skills-based approaches. I believe counselling is a client-centred process, where we identify and combine your skills, strengths, and goals with research-validated methods to create a customized goal plan that will empower personal resilience and healing.
